Charge $1.00 per month to access/join the website

This would give us a working budget of $1500.00+ per month before donations. With this $$ we could reach a lot of people. In order to let people see that it is more than worth the cost, we could offer a one week free period.

Ever consider excepting Bitcoin? Unlike Paypal fees (#2), there is only a penny or so, per transaction, to transfer funds, of any amount, to any person or organization. This would allow for either very small fees to post, or for monthly, quarterly, or yearly dues.

I support paid membership but posting shouldn't be one of the benefits. Everyone no matter their financial status should have a voice in this community.
I'm on board with Comments #1 and #9

Airman: .org is just another domain name. It is usually used for non-profit organizations and the like, but it is not required. Anyone can purchase/use a .org address, just like any other domain (.com, .net, etc.) So no, even if NCCPN was not a non-profit group, they would not have the drop the .org domain name.

As for charging - I'd be okay with charging for extras on the site (discounted/fre e merch, special sections of the site, etc.), but not for general use of the forums and such. Many of us are on VERY tight budgets and even if it was only $1/month, we'd lose some folks and push away some potential members who couldn't/wouldn 't make a commitment to pay a fee each month.

I'd pay annual dues but not the monthly thing. I'd mail my annual dues to bewell, say $24 a year comes out to two bucks a month? I'd put $25 in an envelope and send it to him each year.

It will have no effect on our nonprofit status. Many nonprofit organizations collect dues. It can be used for operating expenses and to complete projects sponsored by the organization. Look at NORML. They are nonprofit, have a .org website & collect dues.

Several organizations I belong to have parts of the website that are for paying members. One of them has hundreds of thousands of dollars in the bank. They have built this income by charging $15 a month over a lot of years to approximately 2,000 members. But, no one is getting rich from it. In fact, it has no paid employees and no owner, therefore no one to profit from the money collected. It exists, not for profit, but for the betterment of beekeeping. This is what I am proposing.

Someone know what happens to our .org status if we have paying members?

nccpn.com is already taken. all possible top level domain names for NCCPN are gone.

What about the .org status? Would NCCPN have to change to a .com for collecting money from members?

So with transaction fees, that would be $1005 per month. Or if we were able to set it up for people to have the option of paying for the whole year, it would be a potential of $1458.75 per month. I think its worth considering making at least part of the website fee based.

TRANSACTION FEE FOR ONLINE PAYMENTS
(based on monthly sales)
$0 to $3,000 = 2.9% + $0.30

33 cent on every dollar would go to Paypal.
