Do we have a date for the next meeting in Raleigh I know that's going to be next year but will it be on Jan 30 when house convenes or when we have a new bill number as I would like to get the word out asap.

Hi...A few questions about "Lobbying Day" Has the exact date been established?? Shouldn't there be a BILL Number BEFORE the lobbying begins? Are any steps going to be taken to insure media coverage?? Is it for NCCPN members ONLY?? If the long session begins on JAN 30th, shouldn't it be after that date so all the representives and all concerned be AWARE that it is going to happen? Will there be Key Note Speakers? Will it be on a weekday or a weekend? I am sure the details will be ironed out as time goes by but the sooner the date and time and events are SET the more time people will have to make plans and arrangements to BE THERE. 1000 members is a good number but 5000 supporters sounds better. ;) I noticed the minimum on a mans tee shirt is $21.19 (plus shipping) times that by 1000 is $21,000 PLUS dollars   1000 GREEN RIBBONS would cost less than $100 and could be handed out by members to supporters on site. ;) More money spent on educational and informative flyers/brochures/signs/banners etc. would be better spent than on tee shirts in my humble opinion... By all means people who can afford to and want too should get and wear the NCCPN tees but those who can't a simple GREEN Ribbon is an inexpensive way to show your support. Just a few questions and ideas to toss about. ;) It will be JANUARY 2013 in less than 6 Months... How long is the long session? :S Maybe April 20th 2013 (4/20/2013) would be a good day for lobbying day? :) ;) :) ;) Its also gonna take more than the 10-20 members who post on here regularly to make this thing work... Its gonna take every single member to bring/invite at least 10-20 friends to make a statement loud enough to be noticed. ;) With all the media attention surrounding Medical Marijuana these days and the pressure on the Goverment to de-classify marijuana the chances of success in NC for the bill passing in 2013 are looking better and better... :) :) :) POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!!!! I was just thinking the same thing today. $20-$30 is a lot for a shirt, even tho it is a cool shirt. If we could get iron on decals and buy bulk shirts, we could distribute them much cheaper. Or, we could get the ribbons, visible and another cheap way to get the point across & stand in unity.

I think we'll get a much better turnout if we get more activity on here. People are staying quiet, both on the message boards & on chat. If we can get the masses involved, they'll be much more likely to show up to the events & to bring friends. The message boards and chat are crucial for group involvement. I think if we can get people talking about anything that interests them, while it may not always pertain strictly to mmj, they'll come out of the woods. If we have any volunteers of people willing to take on the roll of encouraging group involvement, by being active on the boards & chat, I think that would go a long way. I'd volunteer but I'm just not able to take on anything extra right now. I will, however, continue to stay active as much as possible on here.

Who all do we have in "positions" and what are they?

Please know none of this is meant as any type of attack, just trying to come up with ideas with all of you, to help us get the numbers we so desperately need, to show up at the lobbying day. ;)

Hey there Farmer, good to see you and you asked a lot of the questions I posted elsewhere. So far, noone seems to know, but, maybe soon we will get some answers.
I have an idea I would like to throw out there. If it is people we need to stand in unity, together, all for one one for all, why not invite or join the other MMJ forces out there that are bigger than us. There must be some kind of plans being made by say: NORML of NC, ASA, you know all the groups out there that are in this same battle. IF we were to buddy up with them, as they are the bigger forces, we can make a much larger statement than just fighting this battle on our own. :S

If we are going to take on the gov. we need more than just our little group standing alone, when there are already so many other groups out there that we could join forces with. We are all in this together and to share what we have amongst the masses is far greater than standing alone.

Hey you know me, just sayin...:cheer:

Hey Beccie... :) I cannot agree with you more. This fight should include ALL people who support legalization of Medical Marijuana in this state. Call it Cannabis all you want but a rose by any other name is still a rose. ;) NCCPN is but a small fraction of the people who do and would support this cause. ;) I have heard some say on NCCPN before that getting too many people especially YOUNG people together would send the wrong message. Like it was a big party or something.   To me NCCPN is geared more toward an older generation and people with more health problems and toward Veterans. Nothing wrong with that, but there are even larger groups out there who support legalizing marijuana in ALL aspects including medical. ;) The biggest roadblock for everyone including NC is the goverments refusal to re-schedule marijuana from schedule I to a schedule III or less. Until the GOVERMENT changes its stance on marijuana the states including NC AND all the ones who already have medical MJ don't stand a chance of ending proibition on this plant. As we speak Los Angeles city council has voted to CLOSE ALL the dispensaries in Los Angles....  news.yahoo.com/los-angeles-closing-over-...20945722.html?_esi=1 This is not helping the cause. Maybe I am getting off-topic and will be chastised again but I really don't care. People need to see that the Goverment is the enemy here..not Raliegh or NC. And as long as the goverment flexs its muscles the states will bow down to their wishes and demands. It all boils down to marijuana being on the schedule I list of narcotics that states it has ABSOLUTELY NO MEDICINAL VALUE. ( Schedule 1
Includes drugs with no proven or acceptable medical use and a high abuse potential - authorized research only. )
As long as this is in place even states WITH medical marijuana laws in effect will be doing so illegally.
We can hope that it does get re-classified and more and more states will adopt medical MJ laws so people can choose their medicine and more research can be done. In the meantime we can still fight for the right in NC and hope for the best. :) :) :)

I had no idea LA was shutting down. A big leap backwards. Strength in numbers, we all know it works. I do think we have a much better shot at legalizing mmj than just mj, tho I personally feel both should be legal.

Is anyone willing to admit to being a member of another group? Do they have a "lobbying day" of sorts planned? Are folks in this & other groups willing to work together for this event?

Here is one thing I found

Sept. 6th 2012- Join us at the National Democratic Convention!!!

Details:
sponsored by the Carolina Cannabis Coalition
Please join us as we gather and work to reform Cannabis Law Nationally and in North Carolina. Two tours are coming to our state for the Democratic National Convention and the Coalition will be there to greet them and support them. For more info about the tours coming in and where to donate please go to these links:
www.greedoutofweed.org/wp/
www.weednotgreed.com/#!home/mainPage
also we hope the Green Bus raises enough money to join us!!! You can don...ate to their tour at: www.facebook.com/WeedBus
and to donate to the Coalition to help make this event a success and maybe do some gift bags for our awesome guests that are coming please go to our main site at: www.carolinacannabiscoalition.webs.com to donate.
And BE THERE!!
Parade/March time 11:20 AM Permitted by Get the Greed out of Weed/Richard Easton
Speaker Richard Easton at 3:00 PM
Rebecca Forbes: speaking permit applied for. Will update as soon as more information is available.
For those planning on attending. The event has access to free parking, and will be easy to find. Just use the Lynx Light Rail. It is a scenic 15 minute ride to the heart of the event. I recommend the I-485/South Blvd terminal because it has a huge parking area.

Every post I read on this topic holds strong merit in my opinion, the DNC is a great place to go and be heard, Not good news for LA, so many patients are going to loose access to their medication, I guess their city council dosent care about that fact. KJ is on point about this forum needing to be more active, many people use their computers, I always see on the bottom where it lists the users and there is usually 50 to 100 at any given time, the other day I noticed about 450 on this site, somehow we need to get more on here, a few of my friends on here know that I have been seriously busy this past week registering for college and on monday I took in 3 baby possums that are a handful, their mother and 3 other babies were killed by a stray dog that was wondering the neighborhood until animal control took it this morning. And I agree with Farmergreen, Cannabis, Marijuana it dont matter, I just cant call it weed cause its not a weed, the definition of a weed is an undesirable plant in ones area. I think we all desire it.

One more thing, it would be very cool and maybe draw more people to the forum and NCCPN if our leaders were posting on here more often...just sayn. Bewell does a great job with this whole site, I remember the old one very well, it was just a home page that was rarely updated and a very inactive forum, it would be sometimes days without any posts. This is an excellent site that should be utilized in every way cause there is so much here for all of us.

B) norml.org/library/item/introduction-to-t...docannabinoid-system

If you go about half way down the page, ON THE RIGHT is a list of Chapter Meetings, If you go there you will see where NORML NC is meeting. It seems to me that if we were to connect with someone big, (nothing against your posts Jason ;) ) NORML is huge and in most every state. Check it out and see if you agree to make a trip to meet up with this group.

Here is the other one, at it was yesterday and I am not sure what I saw that was real important, but, if you look around the site, I know there is something there we can use or some group to hook up with. Sorry  The memory stinks but the intent is all good. Tell me what you think. www.drugsense.org/cms/geoview/n-us-nc

 Soooo, do we have a list of "officers" in this group? A group this size (any group for that matter) needs direction. I think right now, we've got a lot of great questions being asked, but we need to know who to turn to for the answers. ;)

:( Sorry Jason that you got no response. But, in all fairness or whatever, this is now. My suggestion is that we find out who is meeting in Raleigh, where they are meeting, and join them, even if they do not ask us to. Which actually they have. That is why they are putting up where they are going to meet. It seems to me, that we can join without a specific invitation and would want to hang with one of the biggest groups out there. If there is a nother group that is bigger, we can piggy back on them. It is just that the more we have in force the better. I can understand your frustration, bro, but, we have to keep going regardless of the set backs. They have listed there on that site, which parking lot they are meeting in, and what street that is located at. I know nothing about Raleigh so with that, I would try to find out where they are going to park, merely out of ignorance and meet some new people, meet some of our comrades, and help them help us. I am not one to be defeated too easily, and I don't mind showing up at a party with an open invitation. know what I mean. I'm just sayin.... POWER IN NUMBERS

B) I like KJ and some others have One BIG question... WHO IS IN CHARGE AND WHO KNOWS THE ANSWERS on this?:woohoo: please someone stand up and say that they know something about this event, other than let's get a t-shirt and stand together. Sounds Super, but...Where are we going to stand, when, who, and what is our intent. ANYBODY?!!!

OK I found it. Go down a little further in my first posting of the NORML NC site. The first one which is NORML ORG.libray, the one that is in quotes that you wrote on 2 hours ago. this is the site I was speaking of. If you go down about half the page, you will see that there is a place that will take you to the CHAPTERS. You can find the Raleigh info there. Click down till you see the Charlotte chapter and that will take you to what I found. Thank you for setting the record straight.
So if you are looking for the site, where we can get together with a bigger group, go down to where I posted 2 days ago and check the top site for NORML I made it so you can just click and get there. I hope you find this info useful. Peace to you all.
