This is an excellent read, I have for some time now been eating healthy and seriously watching my diet. I'm 30 and most think that I'm in my early twenties. I stay away from meats that come from places like wal-mart because I believe the animals are fed with feed that contains hormones that make them grow faster, I also think that is why kids are hitting puberty a lot sooner nowadays. I wish a lot more people would start the Green lifestyle. Not only does it make you more healthy it makes ya happy too. Even recycling and not wasting resources such as water make me feel good. I also think that one day that water is going to be a hot subject like oil is now. As fast as the worlds population is growing there is going to be a need to preserve water cause if ya really think about it as large as the universe is water is actually a rare thing even now. I often wonder if because I use Cannabis on a regular basis is it the reason why I can't recall the last time I have been sick such as a cold or the flu? Does anyone else experience the same?

JT I completely agree with you. We are looking forward to compost bins & rain barrels hopefully next year. Our garden has a TON of fruits/veggies growing, and it's so rewarding to see my children enjoy picking their food! I hate all the chemicals that go into our food, without being disclosed. It's just wrong! I saw a cute pic the other day, stating how it's a law to disclose what's in a mattress, but not what's in our food. YUCK!

Kevin, I wish I could find a doc like you. So far I've yet to find a PCP here in NC. I went to one last week who, simply put, said she'd only discuss one ailment a visit. It annoyed me because at least 3 issues are interrelated, and I left there no better off than when I went in, and still have slamming headaches every day with no relief. Hopefully more docs will start to open their eyes to the benefits of cannabis! Thanks for the posting!

I made my own 55 gal. rain barrels for $20 total including a new drill bit. I can sure tell you how so you can save $ . The barrel can be painted with the new plastic paints for a great look. The composter can be made using 55 gallon barrels almost as easy.

Rain barrels are the way to go in my opinion. Have you ever noticed when ya water your lawn with a hose it just don't do so good but then shortly after a decent rain the grass just comes to life with growth and lush green color? This is especially true if you have municipal city water cause of all the crap such as chlorine that they add to it, when it comes from a well it just depends on where the well is as to how good the water is. This may seem overboard to some and some may already know that most plants don't like their water to be over 75 degrees so it is important to find a way to keep the water cool between 65 and 75 is optimal. A shady side of the house may be fine or ya may need water chillers like i use. But this is just how I do it, everyone has their own way cause no two gardeners are alike. Also be glad we don't live in Utah, Colorado or Oregon where it is against the law to collect rain water off of your own roof, yet another unjust law. Composting is awesome to, as well as vermicomposting. You can build and earthworm farm for around 15 to 20 bucks and the results on plants are great, it's also good if your into fishing to cause ya never have to buy worms.

Can you post a pic? I've seen some YouTube videos. Do you get the barrel from tractor supply?

This is where I bought my rain barrels. The ones pictured are black, but he has some "tera cotta" colored ones too.

Thanks for sharing this link to the rain barrels. I wonder how high they would need to be to drive water through soaker hoses...

I have mine about six foot off of the ground and they water my green house well using soaker hoses.

When E and I lived in Florida I went to a plumbing place and found that they recycle these huge big white plastic barrels. They delivered it to the house and I don't think we paid much for it. I put a hose hook up on the bottom area and it worked pretty good. The one problem we had that I just want you to be aware of is gravity. The higher you have it the more water pressure you will get for the length that you want it to go and the pressure you want to get out of it. I think it was a 500 gallon white, plastic container. Check around, you may be able to buy one cheaper than buying one being sold by a store. Just sayin...
