MMJ has the same pain killing effects as OXY, and other pain meds. However it does not cause the damage that the oxy's, hydrocodone cause. The pain killers that Pain clinics give out are 10 times worse then MMJ. Oxy is nothing more than heroin. Which would you rather have?

im aware of the effects of pills debated to cannabis. im an herbalist! not a medicine man or witch dr. just a simple person trying to see how changing the law will benefit the patients. i live to take non-organic things into my body. and to the effect of sideeffects yes there are some related to cannabis. not to start the bashing on me again but its a fact! some say good some say bad, but there are some!

Let us also not forget that the cannabinoid CBD can be isolated to provide the analgesic pain-relieving effects, without the intoxication aspect of THC. One of the complaints I often hear from people who take high doses of prescription painkillers is that while their pain is managable, the pills tend to leave them feeling very dopey/foggy and not like themselves, not in control of themselves, not in their right mind. Many I've spoken too would rather endure the physical pain than compromise their mental well-being.

thanks for the response. i hope to be of some help to inform anyone that there are over 1000 common herbs and plants when used in the right combination can do wonders even miracles to those in need of alternative western medicines. many pills are directives of herbal remedies laced to pill form...fyi

Verbum,
I understand where you are coming from, however research has shown that MMJ does in fact kill pain and improves the quility of life of people who is it as a pain killer and not as a reason to get high.
There is a lot more research on MMJ being better choice for pain than the choices we have now.
Please do not take what I am saying as insulting you. I am just trying to have a convo.

It is plain We want a choice between Cannabis/Weed or Pills that eat your liver, kidneys, stomach etc.

VDom, et al.
My understanding of our network's mission is to bring people together that are interested in learning more about MMJ and to help change the law so that patients can gain access to medicinal cannabis w/out fear of incarceration.
I suggest that everyone new to the site please read the proposed legislation and decide whether you support it, or not. From what I've seen, the vast majority of the folks that post here and are regular readers are compassionate people, many with medical problems of differing severity, that want the freedom to try MMJ as an alternative to habit forming prescription drugs. Although there may be hundreds, if not thousands of other herbal remedies, most are not classified as a schedule I drug. We seek the freedom to choose.
Many of the members are on narcotic medicine (me included) and suffer from the side effects. I'm certainly no herbalist and welcome all input on more natural and healthy ways to manage my pain.
Welcome to the network. These are good growing pains. There are no bad questions and we try to treat everyone with compassion and respect while staying on point with our main mission.

Hello Verbum Domini,
First of all, this particular thread was to introduce yourself and give us an idea of who you are and what your story is about your use of MMJ. Instead, you have come on several of the threads and want to debate, or want an explanation of who we are as an Org. to try to get MMJ legalized or at the very least decriminalized. I have taken a lot of time reading ALL of your replies on the different threads and see that you are a cannabis user, so why all the backlash for those who want to use cannabis instead of toxic chemicals. I would be willing to debate with you any time on the pm site. This forum is for new comers as I said above. Now I have some questions for you, what are you talking about slander? Then the next question is that you have thrown out there that "I have known many great things to happen and many worse things involving cannabis" I would like an explanation for that. But, since this is not where to have that conversation, you can pm me at Beccie and on top of that you can even befriend me if you like. That way we can talk without interupting the site.
Also, I too am into other alternative medications in the form of Essential Oils and have much success with them and giving them to others in pain. How about starting a new thread about your herbs or other alternative medicines out there? That's an idea. There is also a great site out there in web world called Grandma's Wisdom and she loves to have people write their herb information shared on her site. She is a beautiful woman who has turned her love of herbs into a whole site. I'm just sayin... Beccie

Alex, as a new member to the site you are not alone in feeling enraged. We are all sick and tired of taking all those flippin pills you speak of. I myself am on 10 a day including morphine. YUK and double YUK. I have found so much help in using MMJ. If you read somewhere here on site you will find that I gave up 24 years of using marijuana as a party choice. I am glad to say that I was brave enough to try again but this time for medical reasons and found it works. So speak your truth, we will defend your right to do so, and if you get a little ugly, well it happens to the best of us, so just keep on writing. It's ok. We will stand behind you for your right to free speech. OK? B

Hello, good and brave people.
I'm from Colorado, where the war rages hot, now in High Point.
Smoked off and on for 40 years
not out of medical need
for opening the magic door
for mind expansion, euphoria, enchantment
for pleasure
also loved wine too much
but that hurts
this heals.
Similar contrast between PharmaCorp narcotic analogs
and this natural plant medicine.
Know the real threat hemp poses to timber, paper, pulp, fiber, oil, feed and fertilizer industries,
know how restorative to the earth it is, how it can eat more CO2 and produces more oxygen than rainforest.
Prohibition is very big business in two ways
one, huge demand and high profits
two, lots of profit units to incarcerate in the biggest growth industry.
At the top they own both sides
this is bigger than oil
because it funds black ops and Big Surveillance.
Also know real research has shown remarkable health benefits
more importantly real testimony proves it, something we've lost the value of
so obviously I support medical use.
I've been mostly lucky with health so far
but I'd like to have it legal when I need it.
Suffering sucks, I'd like to help.

Hello, How many lives could benefit from cannabis in NC? If just one, then we must do this!
Cannnabis is much safer for people than the pills the doctors and big pharma push on the people.
The only problem I see is education. We must inform people. They have been fed lies for a long time about cannabis.
I'm glad to be a part of this
I've told as many people as I can about this.

When will the "leadership" start to help those sick and injured with medical cannabis instead of pretending to care? My coldest regards to those legislators who have yet to make a real difference and choose politics over practical, helpful ways to assist others.
