What a great new site we have!

I'm Ben Scales, and I'm the Legislative Director and Secretary/Treasurer of the NCCPN. We're very excited about the prospects for medical cannabis legislation in North Carolina in the upcoming session. We've been working hard to cultivate contacts within the new freshman class of legislators, and we're reconnecting with friends we made there last session.

But we need your help. We need you to become a member, so we can show your legislators that you support us. We need you to contact your legislators and ask them to support the rights of medical cannabis patients. And we need your donations, so that we can effectively and professionally present our message in Raleigh.

Let us know what you think. We're all volunteers here, but we're working as hard as we can for the patients of this great State.

Baked Spaghetti Western 2 years 3 months ago #53

Aloha,

When my wife and I moved to Hawaii a few years ago, little did we know that we would start our own business certifying patients to get medical cannabis cards. But when circumstances forced us to consider it, we transformed the 20 foot Minnie Winnie I had inherited from my grandfolks into the Big Island Mobile Clinic. With my wife at reception in front under a 10x10 canopy and me inside, we were a medical office on wheels, providing natural & conventional health care from South Point, throughout Puna and up the Hamakua Coast.

We started at Farmer's Markets, but soon found ourselves invited to set up in local community areas and churches. Our featured service was medical cannabis card certifications. Our business flowered until the state shut our mobile clinic down, so we adapted and now have 3 offices on Big Island and one on Kauai.

Since I am also a musician, I have recreated our experience (with a fair amount of creative license) in song: Baked Spaghetti Western

But now to the point, my wife misses "home", so we're moving back to North Carolina. We're excited that the medical cannabis movement is actively pursuing legislation in North Carolina, both for our sake and the sake of its residents. Despite the many challenges of running a hemp-friendly medical practice, I have never enjoyed being a physician more nor felt I was providing such a meaningful service. I've worked in family practices, urgent cares and state prisons, and have witnessed both the injustices stemming from "war on drugs" and the horrors of addiction to hard core drugs (including prescribed pharmaceuticals!) We witness miracles on a daily basis in our island clinics and pledge to do all we can to see them happen in North Carolina.

Aloha and Welcome Home!
I assume since you are from Hawaii you must know my friend and POW Roger Christie. So sad, imprisoned for preaching Truth and Compassion! I recall another such preacher imprisoned for same.
So happy to have you returning to our state. Our Legislative Director, Ben Scales, was awarded the AMMA awards for his song, "Growing Marijuana In My Yard". (you can find it on YouTube search his name and the name of the song). Our Science Advisor, Ervin Dargan, used to have a studio and records and makes CDs for musicians and other commercial artists.
Please call our offices when you can and leave contact info so I can maybe assist with your move home.
A new non-profit corp association has been formed by business people and incorporated with Secretary of State in the last couple of days for the industry in our state.
May Peace Be Your Journey Home!
Peace and Namaste!

Hi everyone, I am Jayson. I am planning fundraisers to benefit NCCPN this year including a nice dinner in Asheville and a larger open air BBQ on my 30 acre farm in Columbus. Come hang out with the chickens and go fishing. Eat good food, listen to some local bands and acts, and help a worthy cause. More details to come but i am looking for anyone who is talented and wouldn't mind performing on stage during the BBQ event on June 18th.

Hello members and guests of NCCPN! I'm new to the site and believe in the cause. I'm 55 yo and retired military. Although I still work full time I have a condition that I was prescribed darvocet for it but since it has been discontinued they have switched me to vicodin. Oh boy, can't wait till my first drug test since I started taking it. Talk about addicting. Since it's presrcibed I hope it won't matter, but still. Hope the bill passes. Even if I didn't have a condition I would still support the cause. Having been exposed to cannabus in my earlier years I know what it's about and know it's NOT addicting. Love the site, very informative! Keep up the good work. If you're not a member, join.

I'm new to the site, but not new to the cause. I'm looking to learn how to get involved and help out any way that I can. I talk to people all the time about the miraculous plant called cannabis and the countless number of ways that it has the ability to help. I'm fluent in spanish as well, if that helps in any way. I am also a firm believer that hemp is our way to a better, "greener" life on our planet and wish to educate people to this as well. I am just looking for a way to get my foot in the door so that I can be of help. I look forward to hearing from like-minded people so that we can help move our country and planet in a positive direction.

My name is Chip and I am a chronic pain patient here in the Jacksonville, NC area. I was involved in an explosives accident while in the military back in 1987 when I was relatively still young. Now that age is creeping up on me I find myself in more and more pain. The "Local pain doctor" had me peeing in a cup like I was some sort of druggie so I fired him and am now seeing a doctor in Wilminton who respects my dignity. I pray that the NC legislators see through all the lies and red tape generated by the government.
There is no greater tyranny than that which is perpetrated behind the shield of law and done so in the name of justice.
