Greetings to all our guests: your numbers are impressive.

I received a private message several days ago from a senior boarder. This person relayed something that I guess most of us members have forgotten; Cannabis is illegal and what's more, if Republicans have their way, it will remain  that way. They are only human, which brings me back to the message.

The person said that they had been "guest for several months", believing nccpn was a web site created to make a "list of those people smoking pot and wanting to deceive all the rest of us into thinking it was NOT a dangerous drug".

At first I thought it was "remote" paranoia, prettty much a lost fear. Not so, especially for those of us in the senior generation now finding that we do find the medicine REALLY helpful. Some have told me that "I am not a drug addict, I am 64 and have had seizures for the last few years. I have discovered that it nearly stops the seizures....once people realize it is true, they will no longer keep it illegal". "I am now willing to shout it from the highest mountain, they will believe ME".

Wrong. You must get over that unfounded fear and join us "non drug addicts" as we try to educate an ignorant public. For the Christians worried about being deceived, your worries are for naught; you were deceived many years ago!

We are meeting this weekend to discuss a combined stratgedy. Keep checking the page for updates and lively forum topics. Better yet, GO TO THE SOCIAL TAB PAGE AND JOIN US.

Just a quick note to say much information has been posting daily on the forum. Please ring my bell if I miss something important.

We are planning further moves. As Sgt Matt posted, moving the bill at this point would be a heavy lift.

At the same time, so much traffic at the legislature is beginning to have traction. Polite calling on an issue of importance to a citizen is a fundamental right. Brute action in response is NOT the right response, however, don't let it cause you to respond in kind. Keep responding, but keep it respectful. Keep in mind that if your legislator is a Republican, it is important to try and educate them and impress on them that this is a moral issue; not a political one.

Because of the recent publicity, the traffic on the web site has increased greatly but unpredictable. I would like to make an appointment with our "guest" to see if we are connecting. Let us say beginning this evening at 6:30 to 7 PM, we will note traffic. If someone has a better idea for "scheduling viewing time at nccpn to see how many people are following for news". We are growing in membership and alignment with other organizations and are planning to organize and strategize a plan forward; together.

Where there is a Will, there is a way.  Updates as required.

Meeting with Randy Voller PDF Print E-mail

On Tuesday, nccpn leaders met with the Chair of the NC Democratic Party to access the current state HB 84. I wish I could report that we have found a way to resurrect the bill, but at present it is all but dead. At the same time, the manner in which they did this has struck a nerve and we need to capitalize on it. They could NOT AFFORD for this to get to the Health Committee, it would send shock waves through their constituents. The fact that Cannabis kills cancer and protects normal cells is so explosive that the Republicans had the National Cancer Society present to legislators from a 1999 IOM report that speaks of "treating symptoms"; no mention of "treating the cancer itself". This is the news that has to become public knowledge.

I want to offer my deepest apology to our members for this failure; because the facts should have dictated a different outcome. When Stephen LaRoque was indicted and shown for the crook he was/is, I thought the leadership of the Republican Party would attempt to make amends by giving a new bill this year a "fair hearing; especially given the avalanche of new health news regarding cancer treatment and PTSD!!!" I trusted the comments from the Speaker and others in private that we needed to find a way to do this. It appears that it was insincere from the beginning.

BULLSHIT! The Speaker lied. This is a problem that needs to be addressed. It needs to be discussed in your family setting with those you trust and who trust you. When a person of responsibility gives his word, that is his/her bond. When they fail to keep that word, they become a cancer on the institution they serve. This issue is not a partisan issue; sickness affects all living things.

Having said that, I am excited that Randy has decided to make this glaring affront to the citizens of NC his main topic for Democrats this year. Please be patient as we explore our options. We DO PLAN TO KEEP THIS PUSH GOING. It will be a coordinated push. All is not lost; matter of fact; the WAR IS JUST BEGINNING. Much More later.

WE ARE EXCITED THAT YOU HAVE COME HERE TODAY; IF YOU JOIN, WE WILL BE STRONGER; YOU ARE ALREADY PART OF THE NEW MORAL MAJORITY!!!

Joining is easy. Click on the social tab and enter the information in the blanks.

A quick note on who we are and what we are about. We are a non-profit devoted to making Cannabis available and legal for medicinal use to all citizens under a doctor's supervision. We have submitted two previous bills; HB 1380 and HB 577. This year, after much work on many people's parts, Reps Kelly Alexander and Pricey Harrison were the primary sponsors of HB 84.

HB 84 was written to specifically meet the demands of the Republicans in NC State Government. Though never in writing, nccpn..specifically me ...was led to believe if we were sincere about the medical use and the bill was carefully written to prevent abuse, we would be given a FAIR HEARING at the Rules Committee.

After the fiasco last year with former Republican Rep Stephen Laroque, who took HB 577 and put it in his pocket, killing it. I thought.."there is no way they would again just trash the work of everyone"; at least we could expect the bill to make it to the Health Committee so the new claims that it kills cancer and protects normal cells could be discussed.

WRONG; THE DISPICABLE ACTIONS OF REP PAUL "SKIP" STAM, approved by Chair Rep Tim Moore, with the knowledge of Speaker Tillis,  WILL NOT SOON BE FORGOTTEN!!!

Last week, the website had between 3300 and 4000 visitors to the site at one time with over 30 dedicated members on line. This is one heck of a political force. We must learn to capitalize on it. Joining and helping with calls and letters is one sure way to make your voice heard.

On this coming Tuesday, nccpn senior staff will meet with Democratic Party Chair Randy Voller at the Goodwin House in Raleigh. This is not a partisan issue; sickness affects ALL living things, republicans included. We are examining all possible avenues forward, from Lowest Arrest Priority to Medical Defense in Courts.

Please, we have an opportunity to join on one forum with our issues. Join all organizations you like, and each will benefit from your membership. What we really need are members who are tired of the same old shit and ready to MAKE THEM LISTEN!!!
